Laugh? I nearly had a heart attack!

Aled Richards was, as far as he knew, a healthy 45 year old living with his two teenage sons, when he suffered a heart attack. Having recovered, that heart attack is now the unlikely subject of his stand-up comedy act.

Cardiovascular disease continues to be the leading cause of death and disability in the world with an estimated 17.3 million people dying of cardiovascular diseases every year.

In this Programme, Aled explores the reasons for heart attacks with experts as well as the care available and how to prevent the disease.

Aled reveals his story, and also the stories of other sufferers, as he discusses his experiences with them and finds out how they moved on from that episode in their lives. Interspersed with this will be clips from his stand-up routine recalling his own experiences of having a heart attack.
